TRANSITIONING RETIRING THOROUGHBREDS TO THEIR SECOND CAREERS

FAQ

Appropriate verification of stabling is part of the adoption process. Post-adoption we want to keep in touch!  You are now part of the FL TRAC family and we love hearing from you with updates and accomplishments of your new partnership. We will follow up with you 30 and 90 days post adoption and randomly after that.

We determine a qualified adopter through the interview process. It is imperative the potential adopter is able to display they can provide a safe and healthy future home for their new family member including financially and in their barn environment.

The first step in becoming a volunteer is to fill out the application by clicking here. Our farm manager will call you soon after to do an informal phone interview and coordinate the best opportunity to put your skills to work.

While we make every effort to find “forever homes” we understand there are situations that may cause unforeseen circumstances. FL TRAC is always available to offer guidance through these times.

Adoption fees vary based on many factors including but not limited to the amount of retraining, soundness, age and suitability for future career options. We recommend filling out an adoption application and exploring the options available at FL TRAC. Your application is not binding. We’d just like to get to know you better to help match you with the perfect horse.

You can either click here or visit our adopt a horse page and peruse our available horses and click on the application there.
